A seminar on “Embrace Pink: Empowering women against cancer

A seminar on “Embrace Pink: Empowering women against cancer” was organized by women
development cell and internal complaint committee, Gujarat University, on Thursday 19th October 2023
at 11:00 AM. The seminar was held at Senate Hall, Gujarat University. The event started with university
song.

Prof., Dr. Jyoti Pareek, Chairperson Internal Complaint Committee gave welcome address. Respected
Dr. Neerja Gupta blessed the occasion with her path guiding words. She emphasized on taking care of
mental health along with physical health. She explained how traditional values can have a positive
impact on one’s health.

Invited speakers were Dr. Ava Desai, Sr. Gynecological cancer surgeon, Zydus Cancer Center; and Dr.
Neelam Ahirwal, Onchoplastic surgeon, Zydus cancer center. They gave very informative talk on
cervical cancer and breast cancer.

They talked about symptoms, early detection and cure.
The talk was then followed by an interactive session
where many students could solve their queries. Dr
Shailesh Raval Medical Officer, Gujarat University Health
Centre was also present. Later a free health checkup
and consultation was also done at the university health
center by the invited doctors. Dr. Prachi Motiyani,
Member secretary Women Development Cell and
Internal Complain Committee presented vote of
thanks. The master of ceremony was Dr. Maitri Jhaveri
from department of computer science.
